However, as with any high-impact sport, there's a risk of injury, and ankle sprains are among the most common injuries in volleyball.  Studies have recently shown that ankle braces have reduced incidence of ankle sprains.  In fact, in a 2014 study showed that wearing ankle braces in a healthy population reduces acute ankle sprains and does not have bearing on knee joint range of motion and may in fact reduce shear loading to the knee in volleyball players.1  As a parent, ensuring your child's safety while they enjoy their favorite activities is a top priority. This is why equipping your kids with ankle braces during volleyball is a smart and effective way to protect them from injuries and keep them on the court.
